1. Legal Entity

AiExponent is the trade name of AI Exponent LLC, a limited liability company organised under the laws of the United States. References on this site to "AiExponent", "we", "us", or "our" mean AI Exponent LLC unless context clearly requires otherwise.

AI Exponent LLC operates the website at aiexponent.com, publishes open source software under the GitHub organisation at github.com/aiexponenthq, and develops the commercial Sigil platform.

2. No Legal Advice

AiExponent is a technology company, not a law firm. Nothing on this website, in our open source tools, in our documentation, or in the output produced by our tools constitutes legal advice.

Reading this site, using our tools, contacting us, or receiving output from our tools does not create an attorney-client relationship with AI Exponent LLC or any of its personnel. Compliance with the EU AI Act and other regulations is fact- and jurisdiction-specific and depends on the particular use case, deployment, and customer profile. You should consult qualified legal counsel in the relevant jurisdictions before acting on any output from our tools or any content on this site.

3. No Conformity Assessment

Our tools — including license-compliance-checker, RiskForge, and rag-benchmarking — generate structured documentary evidence that supports compliance workflows under the EU AI Act and adjacent frameworks.

They do not perform conformity assessment under Article 43 of the EU AI Act. They cannot substitute for review by a notified body in categories where a notified body is required (for example, biometric identification systems and certain critical infrastructure). Providers of high-risk AI systems remain solely responsible for their compliance under the Act.

4. Open Source Warranty Disclaimer

All AiExponent open source software is distributed under the Apache License, Version 2.0. The software is provided on an "AS IS" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or implied, including without limitation warranties of title, non-infringement, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

You are solely responsible for determining the appropriateness of using or redistributing the software and assume any risks associated with your exercise of permissions under the Apache 2.0 License. The full license text is included in the LICENSE file of each repository.

5. Third-Party Framework References

This site and our tools reference third-party regulatory and standards frameworks by name for informational and interoperability purposes. These references do not imply any endorsement, sponsorship, affiliation, or approval by the rights holders or publishers of those frameworks.

• "EU AI Act" refers to Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of the European Parliament and of the Council, published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
• "NIST AI RMF" refers to the Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework (AI RMF 1.0) published by the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology.
• "ISO/IEC 42001" refers to ISO/IEC 42001:2023, Information technology — Artificial intelligence — Management system, published by the International Organization for Standardization.
• "Colorado AI Act" refers to Colorado Senate Bill 24-205.

NIST, ISO, the European Union, and the State of Colorado do not endorse AiExponent or any of its tools. Cross-references in our tools are interpretive aids and are not authoritative.

6. Intellectual Property

"AiExponent", "AI Exponent", "RiskForge", and "Sigil" are trade names or trademarks of AI Exponent LLC in the United States and may be registered or applied for in other jurisdictions. The AiExponent logo is the property of AI Exponent LLC.

All other product names, logos, trademarks, and service marks mentioned on this site are the property of their respective owners. Reference by AiExponent does not imply any affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship by the owners of those marks.

7. Privacy

We collect only what is strictly necessary to operate this website and respond to enquiries. We do not sell personal data, use advertising cookies, or profile visitors.

What we collect

• Analytics: Plausible Analytics (privacy-friendly, cookieless, no personal data collected, GDPR- and ePrivacy-compliant).
• Contact form: if you submit our contact form, we collect the information you provide (name, email, message) for the sole purpose of responding to your enquiry. Messages are delivered via Resend.
• Server logs: standard web server access logs (IP address, user agent, request path) retained for security and diagnostics for a limited period.

EU/UK visitors (GDPR and UK GDPR)

Our lawful basis for processing contact form submissions is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Analytics processing uses a privacy-friendly tool that does not collect personal data. You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data; to restrict or object to processing; to data portability; and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Exercise these rights by emailing legal@aiexponent.com.

Our tools

AiExponent's open source tools in CLI mode make zero outbound network calls by default. Your data never leaves your machine unless you explicitly deploy an optional server component or configure an integration. This is enforced at the test level in each repository.

8. Two-Entity Separation

The founder of AI Exponent LLC separately operates an advisory practice under the trade name "AskAjay". AI Exponent LLC and AskAjay are legally distinct and maintain independent books, contracts, liabilities, and obligations.

• Engagement with AskAjay for advisory, consulting, or thought leadership services creates no contractual or fiduciary obligation on AI Exponent LLC.
• Use of AI Exponent LLC's open source tools, Sigil platform, or website creates no advisory relationship with AskAjay.
• Neither entity is a law firm. Neither entity provides legal advice.

This separation is deliberate legal architecture designed to keep product liability (AI Exponent LLC) and advisory liability (AskAjay) clearly segregated. More at /about.

9. Governing Law

These Legal Notices and your use of the aiexponent.com website are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Use of individual AiExponent open source repositories is additionally governed by the terms of the Apache License, Version 2.0, as set out in the LICENSE file of each repository. Use of the commercial Sigil platform is governed by a separate commercial agreement provided at the time of subscription.

If any provision of these Legal Notices is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
